Invisalign Tustin / Santa Ana
Invisalign is a modern option for straightening teeth. Instead of wearing metal braces, patients use clear, fitted trays to gently maneuver teeth into the desired position. This results in an improved bite and a beautiful smile. The patient will first meet with one of our dentists to discuss goals, and a program will then be created to achieve them. In most circumstances, Invisalign will move teeth faster than old-fashioned braces, and the clear trays are nearly undetectable. They are also removable for eating as well as tooth brushing and flossing.
LifeTime Smiles of OC is the practice of choice for patients seeking Invisalign in Santa Ana, Tustin or the surrounding Orange County areas. Our team would be happy to meet with anyone considering treatment and explain what it entails.
How Invisalign is Used
The following tooth conditions can be corrected by the Invisalign straightening system:
- Crowded and crooked teeth
- Gaps and spaces between teeth
- Bite problems and protruding teeth
- Gummy smiles
Although Invisalign has helped millions achieve a more attractive smile and better oral health, it is not right for everyone. Certain patients with serious orthodontic problems may require traditional metal braces to see the desired results.
How Invisalign Works
At the first appointment, the patient must inform our Tustin / Santa Ana Invisalign dentists of their desired goals. The dentist will then take a series of digital photos of the teeth and create a computer simulation of how Invisalign will move the teeth. The patient will have an opportunity to review the program at the next appointment. The biggest benefit of Invisalign is the ability to see the results before investing in the program.
If the patient decides to move forward with treatment, the records of the teeth are sent to the Invisalign lab that constructs the aligners. Once the first set of aligners is ready, patients should wear them for at least 20 to 22 hours per day, removing them to eat, brush and floss.
After a few weeks, the next set of aligners in the sequence is delivered and the patient swaps them out. Patients usually wear 10 to 20 sets of aligners throughout treatment.
When the Invisalign treatment ends, the patient is required to wear a retainer in order to keep the teeth in the correct position. This is done by utilizing Vivera trays, which are made by Invisalign and are meant to be worn overnight during sleep. The retainer trays are created during the last stretch of treatment and need to be renewed every 120 days. Vivera trays work well for retention because they do not get soft and allow teeth to shift back to their previous spaces. Patients may also choose to have a permanent wire retainer installed behind their bottom teeth while using Vivera trays to keep the upper teeth straight.
